925 Sterling Silver vs. Copper: A Material Guide for Wholesale Jewelry Buyers
If you are building a jewelry line for the US or European market, one of the first decisions you will make is the base material. It decides your price band, your customer, and your ordering terms. This guide compares the two lines we produce in-house — 925 sterling silver with natural semi-precious stones and copper with crystal — so you can decide which one (or which mix) belongs in your next order.
What each line actually is
925 sterling silver + natural semi-precious stones. The core content is 92.5% silver. We combine it with natural stones such as amethyst, turquoise, moonstone and mother-of-pearl. This line sits in the mid-to-higher retail band — roughly $50–200 at retail — and is the segment where US consumer preference data is strongest.
Copper + crystal. Copper pieces are typically plated (silver or gold tone) for a finished look and set with crystal stones. This line is light, affordable and fast — retailing mostly under $25 — and works well as a gift add-on or as TikTok / flash-sale traffic drivers.

Which line fits your business?
Go sterling-first if you are building a brand, selling to boutiques, or targeting the $50–200 segment. A recent US consumer survey showed amethyst and turquoise at the top among semi-precious stones for jewelry shoppers — and both carry well at that price band with sterling. Birthstone and spiritual styles also sell strongest in silver.
Go copper-first if you need a fast, low-risk entry: gift lines, bundle items, TikTok testers, or retail under $25. The lower MOQ threshold and 7-day turnaround let you test a design almost weekly.
Best practice: run both lines in parallel. A common wholesale strategy is 70–80% sterling as the margin line and 20–30% copper as the traffic and gift line. You get margin from silver, volume and content fuel from copper.
Which stones we work with most
Because we are a production workshop (not a reseller), we keep a focused stone list with the strongest US demand signals:
- Amethyst & turquoise — our first-tier stones; strong consumer preference, proven sales at $50–200 retail
- Moonstone — second tier, pairs with spiritual / birthstone storytelling
- Rose quartz — best in lower-price lines and gift combos
We can also work with your own stone selection or supplied stones — just specify on your RFQ.
Ordering from our factory directly
We run our own production workshop in Meilong, China. For export orders, we settle through our licensed trade entity — so you work directly with the makers, without a middleman in between.
- 925 silver line: MOQ from 20 pieces; larger orders ship in 12–15 days
- Copper line: MOQ 100+ pieces; usually ships within about 7 days
- Custom work: we can match a design, adjust stones and sizes (4/6/8mm), and add your stamping or logo
